The theory exam is not impossible, but you need to prepare seriously. Just over half of the candidates pass on the first attempt: approximately 53%, and even 56% among 17 to 25-year-olds. You need 41 out of 50 points, and the questions are precise.
Assessing details, signal words, and situations correctly makes the difference. Those who practice regularly with realistic questions quickly find that it is manageable.
How much time do you need to study?
That depends entirely on your own pace. The main factors are your current knowledge of the road code, how quickly you pick up new things, how much time you want to spend per day, and whether you want to learn intensively or at a relaxed pace. One candidate may be ready in a few days, while another prefers to spread it over several weeks.
Has the exam become more difficult?
The way questions are asked is sometimes updated, but the material remains the same: the Belgian road code. Therefore, the exam may feel different at times, but it is not necessarily more difficult. The real challenge lies in assessing situations correctly, recognizing details, knowing what you must and may do, and reasoning logically.
How to pass more easily
- Learn step by step and review regularly. Repetition provides certainty.
- Practice with realistic exam questions, as recognizing the question style is half the victory.
- Pay attention to signal words like "must" and "may," as they often determine the correct answer.
- Examine signs, markings, and details closely. The exam tests whether you see everything, not just the big picture.
- Leave on time for the exam center so that stress does not play a role.
