We offer online courses and practice platforms to prepare for the theoretical driving test in Belgium (hereinafter: our "Services"). For any questions regarding the protection of your personal data, you can reach us at info@etheorie.be.

2What personal data do we process and why?

We process your personal data solely for specific, legitimate purposes and based on the correct legal grounds in accordance with Art. 6 GDPR.

3Minors (under 18 years)

Our Services are aimed at individuals wishing to take a driving test. If you are under 18 years old, you are legally incapable of entering into a contract (a purchase) with us.

Attention In that case, a parent or legal guardian must make the purchase and conclude the agreement on your behalf. The parent/guardian is responsible for the accuracy of the provided data.

We process the data of the minor user (such as name and progress data) including the data necessary for the warranty claim in the context of the execution of the agreement concluded by the parent/guardian.

4How long do we retain your data?

We do not retain personal data longer than strictly necessary for the purpose for which they are processed:

  • Account and progress data (incl. warranty data): 2 years after the last recorded use of your account. This period is necessary to demonstrate the correct execution of the service and the processing of possible warranty claims.
  • Billing and payment data: 7 years (legal accounting obligation).
  • Data based on consent (newsletter, photos): as long as you do not withdraw your consent.
  • Support requests: 12 months after resolution.
After the retention period expires your data will be securely deleted or anonymized, unless a legal obligation requires longer retention.

5Do we share your data with third parties?

We never sell your data. We only share data if strictly necessary for our services, with the following categories of processors:

  • Payment processors (e.g., Mollie, Stripe): for the secure processing of payments.
  • Hosting providers and cloud infrastructure: for the storage and availability of the platform.
  • Email services: for transaction emails (access confirmations, invoices) and newsletters.

All processors are contractually bound by a data processing agreement (in accordance with Art. 28 GDPR) and may only use your data for the agreed purposes.

Transfer outside the EEA If processors are located outside the European Economic Area, we ensure that the transfer is covered by appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or an Adequacy Decision from the European Commission.

6Cookies and tracking

Our website uses cookies in accordance with the Belgian Electronic Communications Act (Art. 129) and the GDPR.

  • Functional cookies: strictly necessary for the operation of the platform (e.g., logging in, session security). No consent is required for this.
  • Analytical cookies: are only placed after your explicit consent. We use these to measure and improve the use of our platform.
  • Marketing cookies: are only placed after your explicit consent. We use these for personalized advertisements and retargeting.

7Security

We take the protection of your data seriously and apply appropriate technical and organizational measures (TOMs) to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. This includes, among other things:

  • Access control: only authorized personnel have access to personal data.
  • Secure storage of data on protected servers.
  • Periodic security audits and risk assessments.
Data breach In the event of a breach involving personal data that poses a high risk to you, we will notify you as soon as possible in accordance with our reporting obligation (Art. 33 and 34 GDPR).

8Your rights as a data subject
