You take your theory exam in a recognized exam center of your choice, somewhere in Belgium. The exams are organized by the members of GOCA, the sector federation for driving license examinations. You are not bound to your place of residence, and you make your appointment online via the center's website.

Free choice of center

You can choose where to take the exam: in Flanders, Brussels, or Wallonia. If you choose a specific center for the theory exam, you are not later required to take your practical exam at that same center. You book online, and you pay on-site at the counter.

Who organizes the exams?

GOCA is the sector federation; the exams themselves are conducted by recognized exam centers. In Flanders, these include SBAT, Autoveiligheid, and other recognized centers, each with their own locations and booking websites. In Brussels and Wallonia, this is done through the recognized centers there.

In which language per center?

In Flanders, you take the exam in Dutch, possibly with audio translation in French, German, or English. In Wallonia, it is conducted in French, and the exam center in Eupen conducts exams in German.

You cannot retake the theory exam on the same day if you fail, even at another center. Exams generally take place from Monday to Friday, and the waiting time varies by center, so book in advance.
