There are many ways to learn your theory, but not every method gives the same chance of success. Almost half of the candidates in Belgium fail on their first attempt, often due to an approach that is not exam-oriented.
Why a theory book is no longer sufficient
Theory books have existed for decades, but the exams have changed significantly in the meantime. A printed book quickly becomes outdated, while the rules are regularly adjusted and a book may only receive an update every few years. Additionally, a book does not mimic the question style of the exam: the real questions are shorter, stricter, and much more detail-oriented.
Why a one-day crash course is risky
A day course is often marketed as the quick solution, but the risk is high. The entire road code is covered in just 4 to 6 hours, without many breaks or repetition. Your brain cannot process so many rules in such a short time, so the material quickly fades away.
There is also the financial risk. Such a course costs quickly 100 to 150 euros. If you fail afterwards, it becomes expensive: after two failures, the law requires you to take 12 hours of theory lessons, averaging an additional 100 to 200 euros. The combination can add up to over 250 euros, without you having your certificate.

A book teaches you the theory, but not the exam-oriented question style. Practicing with realistic questions works better.
